The camera connects to the transmitter.  You will need power for the camera and transmitter at the camera area.  The transmitter is not weatherproof, so longer cables (connecting camera to transmitter) can be supplied if you need to mount transmitter inside the front door.  The transmitter can be set on 4 different channels, thus allowing up to 4 cameras on the same system (you can view different cameras by changing channels on the hand held viewer - thus being able to see at the front door as well as back door etc).
